VfL Wolfsburg is a German professional football club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. They are the current Bundesliga champions, after winning the league title - their first major competition victory - in the 2008–09 season. The club grew out of a multi-sports club for Volkswagen workers in the city of Wolfsburg and is 100% owned by Volkswagen Group.
